Karen
Silver has been in the makeup industry since 1991, graduating from the Toronto
School of Makeup and Camouflage Makeup Techniques Course Sheridan College,
yet her passion for makeup started long before that. As a successful entertainer
who had done numerous photo shoots, television shows, video work with some
of the most accomplished makeup artists and photographers in the business
she was always learning new makeup techniques that have proven to be the
most valuable assets for the foundation of her skills.
"My belief
is makeup should compliment the original natural features of the client.
When application is done right makeup should look wonderful during the
day and in photographs".
A good makeup
artist should have the ability to listen to their clients needs and adapt
to any given situation. Every individual is unique in his or her own way
and one should recognize that with makeup, no one face is the same and
what works for one person may not work for the next, so when hiring a
makeup artists for a large party (ie: wedding party), make sure the makeup
artist recognizes the individuality of each person in your party, you
want everyone to feel as comfortable as possible in their own skin, sometimes
a certain look of continuity is good for a wedding party but there should
be variations of the look the makeup artist is trying to achieve on each
individual, as we all are different in our facial features and structures.
Everybody wants
to look the best they can. What I do is give them the confidence through
my expertise to bring out that outer beauty and in turn the inner beauty
comes shining through.
